| | RavenscroftArt is the First Online Art Dealer that Doesn't Charge Artists a DIME!
Thanks for visiting! I'm Lisa Owens of Puyallup, Washington and I opened RavenscroftArt on February 16, 2005, to offer everybody a chance to own unique, affordable pieces of art, and to give emerging artists a place to sell their work to the world at no cost to the artist!
My first listings included handcrafted beaded jewelry and cool pictures for wall decor, and continue to expand into other art forms. Right now I have seventeen artists (including myself) and I'm negotiating with several more artists from all over the world!
All of my listings are personally chosen for their quality and beauty. All artwork on my site is original - these are not reproductions of someone else's work. So each piece is completely unique!
All of my Artists are offering their works at such low prices to MY BUYERS ONLY!
|
If you know any emerging artists who could use help getting their works known, please ask them to check out this site, www.ravenscroftart.com, and then contact me!

A Testimonial
Iris Palmer, my handbeading Artist, had this to say about RavenscroftArt:
"Each time I have met with Lisa, I have felt her 'energy.' Her enthusiasm is powerful! Her promoting the craftpersons in this way is so greatly appreciated by all. So many of us crafters are hidden in the woodwork - she is now letting you take a peek at what Beauty we can create.
Thank you Lisa :-)"
How is it FREE for the Artist??
I believe that talented artists shouldn't have to spend big bucks to get their work known. I also believe they shouldn't have to pay someone a huge commission to sell their pieces. It just doesn't seem fair, somehow. Artists should create, not spend time and money selling those creations.
So when an artist wants me to sell a piece and I agree, s/he sets the price s/he wants to get. I list it at auction for that price plus an estimated amount to cover fees. If the piece sells, the artist gets the full amount of the asking price. If the piece sells for more than the starting price, the artist gets 70% of the overage (after estimated costs). Plus, I offer open-ended contracts, which means I'm committed to listing those works until they sell!
If I haven't sold a work of art within a reasonable amount of time (usually several months), it can be swapped out for a different piece which might sell, or it will be returned to the artist at my expense. At any rate, if I return a piece that hasn't sold, the artist doesn't owe me a DIME! Now, I'm not completely nuts: of course I want to make money! But that's not the reason I opened this Store. The important thing is to make the world a better place. And the world needs more beauty, don't you think?
I'm always looking for new artists and I'll be adding new listings all the time - so check my store often! | | | | Payment and Shipping Information Payment Info: I accept Bidpay, Paypal and money orders or cashier's checks. | I guess two things really define me: I love art and I love cats, but I especially love art and cats together as you can see from the "Twelve Months of Cats in Hats" painting I did, behind me in the photo. Hmmmm, what else should I tell you? OK, I'll start at the beginning and hit the highlights: I was born in Memphis, Tennessee in the summer of 1962. I'm a Leo, and a Tiger in the Chinese horoscope, so I'm a go-getter. You can count on me to "do you right," as we say in the South. I'm a people person and an optimist, too. I have a lot of computer experience and skills. I have an Associate's Degree and three years towards a degree in Management of Information Systems (with a 4.0 GPA). I was headed for glory as a MIS Director in some big corporation, but it didn't work out. | |
I had my own Graphics Design & Layout business when I lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and it was pretty successful. (Then I moved back to Tennessee.) I have lived in the Chicago area, and the Tampa, Florida area. I moved here to the Seattle, Washington area a few years ago to be close to my husband's family. Let me say that Chicago was a huge culture shock for a girl from the South, that's for sure! Visit my Free Stuff page to read about the "Serenade of the Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song"!
My Dad knew Elvis Presley, and I got to meet him once when I was a little kid. I rode the old wooden roller coaster with Elvis at the Memphis Fairgrounds, in the front car, and got my picture in the paper and everything! It's a shame I don't really remember what he was like. All I remember is staring at him with my mouth hanging open (thinking over and over, "That's Elvis Presley!") and hanging on to that car for dear life! (I was 6, maybe?) My silly Dad didn't even get me an autograph - to him, Elvis was just another guy. I happened to be in another part of the hospital the day Elvis died. When word came around that he was there, and why, everybody was crying, even the guys. It was a really sad day for everybody.
I grew up on a pecan farm north of Memphis. Even as a kid I appreciated beauty. I remember watching the evening fly hatch and the fish popping at the top of the water, feeding (with my cane pole by my side!). The dusky light made that little mud pond look so pretty. I kept a close eye on our herd of Angus cattle, watching for new calves. I know, newborn calves are "too cute," but give me a break! I was a kid! (OK, I admit, I still think they're adorable.)
I remember as a teenager going to flea markets and fairs: I would look at some of the art and think "Wow, this is really beautiful! I wonder why they're not famous?" Well, when I grew up I found out why. It's really tough for an artist to become "known." It costs lots of money, and lots of time spent away from creating art. So, when I became disabled and couldn't work any more, I decided to help these artists out. I really believe that the artists I showcase have the potential to become famous, if they only have a little help. Online auctions are a terrific place to start since everybody in the world (it seems) visits them, even if only to look!
